Education:

PFSC provides education on fire investigation, data collection, and analysis and incident management.  We build custom programs to fit every client’s needs. Giving Back: We are truly appreciative of all the professionals who have devoted their time to present program seminars and continuing education opportunities and we are happy to provide presentations at no charge to non-profit industry groups when possible. Experience has taught us there is no better way to learn than to teach.

This presentation was developed for Public Investigation Group training roundtable for no charge

Our most popular program is Investigation 101.  We cover the basics of fire investigation, touching on the scientific method, systematic method, fire pattern analysis, and cause identification and elimination.  This is a one to four-hour program with the objective to provide participants the ability to recognize the key aspects of a fire investigation. We also provide an eight-hour in-depth version aimed at initial responders to fire scenes, such as claims investigators, utility service workers, and risk managers.

Data Gathering 101 is a two to four-hour presentation with the objective to provide participants the basic knowledge of scene safety and how to gather data.  Our natural reaction to witnessing an incident such as an equipment failure or fire, is to take photographs of the active area of the incident. While helpful, this “moth to the flame effect” does not capture context. We cover how and why to get the big picture, 360 video, multiple angle views, witness identification and cooperating with emergency first responders.

Real world Incident Command System (ICS).  Using current ICS course curriculum presented in the context of real emergency and non emergency responses.  We emphasize the importance of adhering to the system principles during minor events in the eventuality a small event grows into a major incident.
